Eat clean – the healthy way to a better body

[dropcap]E[/dropcap]ating the right foods at the right times is the key to a successful body transformation. It helps you achieve and maintain your goals in the long run. It keeps you healthy and feeling better about yourself too. Let’s find out how to eat clean.

You know the saying “Good things come to those who wait.” A perfect body doesn’t happen overnight. You have to be patient, workout hard and eat right too. If you eat clean you are more likely to build a well defined body.

The majority of fitness models I come across advise eating clean rather than bulking up. Alexander Hughes who is a fitness model and a personal trainer says:

“Don’t bulk. Gaining weight should be the least of your priorities. If you’re doing it right you should sit roughly at around 10-12% body-fat year round.”

Eat clean – what is it?

To eat clean (or eating clean if you prefer) refers to a diet that’s based purely on whole foods (foods that are as close to their natural state as possible). A big part of it is avoiding processed, refined and junk foods at all costs.

Whole and natural foods help you fight and protect yourself from diseases, flush toxins from your system and help you to feel better about yourself.

Tips on how to eat clean

When you eat clean you provide your body with the protein, carbohydrates and other nutrients it needs to function properly and grow.

If your goal is to build lean muscle, then you should be aiming for an average ratio of 30/40/30 protein/carbs/fat. You can calculate your macro nutrients calories here.

Spread your meals evenly throughout the day and aim to consume 5-6 small balanced meals. Think about preparation too. If you have a full time job, are at university or college, then you need to prepare your meals in the evening ready to take with you in the morning.
