Johnny Starr is not only one of Skinny Muscles’ favourite fitness models but his first interview was an instant success with you too. He is a true inspiration to us all and he is always there to answer our questions and keep us motivated. When I was preparing my series of articles on six pack abs, I had to ask Johnny to share his tips about his chiselled abs. Getting the perfect six pack abs is a challenge. Maintaining them is even bigger challenge. Find out how Australian fitness model Johnny Starr does it.
Hi Johnny. It’s been a while since we last spoke. Would you tell us what you’ve been up to?
Glad to be back in touch again. Since we last spoke things have definitely picked up. I decided to jump on stage in March which was a blast. I have also been working on an online program for many months which I am extremely happy to say has been launched and thankfully has been a big success thus far.
Tell us more about your Summer Six-Pack Program?
I had so many people asking me to train them but I simply couldn’t fit in training people, training myself and working on my real estate career six days a week whilst juggling family and some sort of a social life at the same time. BUT I wanted to share my knowledge with anyone who was like me a few years ago wanting a world-class education and program which would teach people about targeting their central nervous system to the importance of time and tempo for your sets. So my sports science coach – Christian Woodford and myself put this program together. He is one of the world’s best, if not the best, sports science strength and conditioning coaches and I am so blessed to have him on board.
Six pack abs are difficult to achieve. How do you keep your six pack in such a good condition?
THIS IS SOO TRUE! They are extremely difficult to achieve and even harder to maintain. I personally eat clean all year round. When I want to gain size I will up my carbs and calories but still eat clean. No fast foods ever! I incorporate allot of cardio within my workouts and focus on explosive movements whilst I train. It helps me keep relatively lean year round. It’s not for everyone but I enjoy it.
What are your tips for the perfect six pack abs?
We all have abs. We can all train them but getting them visible is a completely different story. The only tip you need to remember is will power and discipline – without this you can achieve nothing of greatness, be that in any aspect of your life. Always stay positive, stay humble, stay focused and don’t give into temptations when bad foods are around. Respect your body and yourself and remember the ultimate goal and glory of washboard abs.
What are your tips on maintaining a six pack?
The 2 key fundamentals are obviously: diet and core training plus cardio/conditioning work – sprints. You can’t expect different results if you keep doing the same things.
